MEN OF PEACE

MEN OF PEACE
"I don't know how to save the world. I don't have the answers or The Answer. I hold no secret knowledge as to how to fix the mistakes of generations past and present. I only know that without compassion and respect for all Earth's inhabitants, none of us will survive - nor will we deserve to." Leonard Peltier

Dreams from Obama

Dream Act, Veterans, Religion, Renewing the American Economy

Dreams from Obama

Barack Obama’s approach to power is a deterrent example of current political trends. Officeholders elected to preserve, protect and defend laws and unique national identity, are not only derelict in their duties, but feel entitled to realize their personal dreams and to mold “their” country into a private kingdom. The sense of entitlement is reinforced by lack of obligation of results, culminating in rampant impunity.

Native American Chiefs considered that “man has responsibility, not power”, for present-day selfish leaders, power is all but responsibility.

People are the share-holders in their own country, and we either remember that our officials are answerable to us, or let’s free Bernie Madoff; his misconduct pales in comparison with antics of our dignitaries.

The President? It’s a demanding job, involving many responsibilities; he is supposed to act as the chief representative of the government, chief executive, commander –in-chief, foreign policy director and legislative leader. Neither the Constitution nor the people grant him an unacceptable privilege of realizing his private dreams.

Dream Act

Barack Obama said several times ”I’m not a king” and yet did not hesitate to use yet another autocratic executive order to get his way and protect millions of undocumented illegal aliens from deportation. Obama seemed visibly proud to keep his promise, completely ignoring the fact that his duty is to serve interests of citizens, not illegal residents. Saying: “I’m on your side, man” to an illegal immigrant is an inappropriate remark and once again Barack Obama places himself in the wrong camp.

American Dream for Veterans

In 2009, Barack Hussein Obama and ex-VA Secretary Eric K.Shinseki announced their project of ending Veteran homelessness by the end of 2015. In the mean meantime, many of our heroes died on the streets as if insanely “punished” for being our nation’s protectors. How come that for six gruelling years an immediate action has never been presidential priority? The present Commander-in -Chief underlined the importance of ethical treatment of detainees in Guantanamo, kept his promises to illegal residents, vigorously supported legalizing same –sex marriage, and yet hasn’t found the time to react to breach of basic human rights of our Veterans? Here we are: 2015, the year when the homelessness of our Veterans is supposed to end. Mark Twain used to say: “The secret of getting ahead is getting started”.

Religion

For some less and less mysterious reasons, Barack Obama seems to consider himself a preacher and a religious reformer. His present function not only doesn’t correspond with such a vocation, but excludes religious favouritism. An American President has simply no right to promote a particular doctrine discriminating other religions. To respect his role of Foreign Policy Director, a president must be aware that he makes statements on behalf of the nation. Obama’s personal highly inflammatory and often ludicrous remarks contributed to religious tensions all over the world.

Renewing the American Economy

The present job market is desert- like, and even a candidate hoping for the most junior position in the field of finance is expected to show quantifiable results of his work. Even a promising resume “closed 2014 at 180% of revenue goal and 140% of profit objective” may not set you apart from the competitive pool of applicants. Barack Obama’s CV containing “increased federal debt for more than $7 trillion” and “pushed for an affordable care which turned out to be rather unaffordable” certainly offers fun and entertainment for job interviewers. Meanwhile, the President is considered the country’s chief executive… Paraphrasing Margaret Thatcher, a national leader realizing his personal dreams can easily run out of our money.

For decades now we’ve been watching a political version of a musical chairs game which inevitably leads to unfairness and one-sidedness. The most basic of our rights are not being respected and our legitimate expectations branded as utopian ideas. Politicians can’t stress enough the importance of reinforced and dissuasive sanctions for bad management in the corporate world and yet consider that there’s no obligation of results at the highest level of national leadership. Castle building will end up in construction of an all-encompassing global prison, unless leaders are held accountable for their conduct and damage done to our security and economy. The future must not belong to politicians who double-cross our laws, our values and our freedom.
