Sacrificing Reality for Unassailable Power

Despite everything being promoted by the American Left and their media allies, the so-called “bathroom war” in North Carolina is a diversionary tactic. One designed to obscure the greater agenda while establishing a beach head for its implementation.

The greater agenda begets a question: What is gender identity? Quite simply, it is the leftist attempt to deny the “evidence of the senses,” and establish — by force of law, no less — that sexual “reality” is whatever one chooses it to be, all of the inconvenient chromosomal and genital evidence notwithstanding.

And while this is the current focus, it is vitally important to understand that it is only the opening gambit in the Left’s ongoing effort to fundamentally transform the United States of America — into a nation where their power is absolute.

If self-identification becomes the ultimate standard, and Americans are required by law to use that standard for determining one’s sex, then the government has granted itself the power to define reality itself as nothing more than a state of mind. If that happens, why not two plus two equals five, if the bastardization of math becomes politically useful? Why not insist gravity and other “external realities” are nothing more than similar mental constructs, if power can be maintained by such a despicable assertion?

Furthermore, is there any doubt recent efforts by leftists on college campuses to remove certain historical artifacts that “offend” them, amounts to anything less than an effort to change the past? Or that common sense has already been dismissed as heresy? Or that “thinking otherwise” is being prosecuted by 16 Democrat Attorneys General targeting companies that dare to dissent from leftist dogma regarding the “settled science” of global warming that is anything but?

A week ago, Harvard University — five of whose graduates currently sit on the Supreme Court —announced that members of organizations that are independent, single-sex, and off-campus will no longer be considered for Rhodes and Marshall scholarships, and will be banned from leadership positions in on-campus organizations and athletic teams. Thus a citadel of so-called higher learning is tossing constitutionally protected “freedom of association” on the ash heap of history in pursuit of its radical leftist agenda.

Perhaps they are taking their cue from 70-year-old Harvard professor Mark Tushnet, who insiststhat liberals have won the culture war, and all that remains “is how to deal with the losers.” In that regard, Tushnet states that “a hard line seemed to work reasonably well in Germany and Japan after 1945.” He further insists that liberals “should be compiling lists of [court] cases to be overruled at the first opportunity on the ground that they were wrong the day they were decided,” and attempting to “exploit the ambiguities and loopholes in unfavorable precedents that aren’t worth overruling.” Toward those ends, Tushnet advises his allies to embrace a “f—k Anthony Kennedy” mindset in pursuit of their agenda.

That a leftist hack like Tushnet would compare conservatism with Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan should surprise no one. Like his fellow leftists — including “news” curators at Facebook who not only routinely censored conservative news stories from the site’s trending news module, but artificially promoted other stories not popular enough to warrant inclusion — the ends justify the means.

And once again: The ends are unassailable power. Power to enforce their agenda by any means necessary, and to ultimately prosecute those who refuse to kowtow.

Thus the administration is also going after the biggest impediment to that agenda. Using the Social Security system as its vehicle, the Obama administration intends to deem anyone who has help in managing his or her affairs as “mentally unfit” to purchase a gun. This goes hand in hand with leftist efforts to vastly expand liability against gun manufacturers whose weapons are used in the commission of a crime, as well as the administration’s effort to embrace smart gun technology that will limit the use of a firearm solely to its owner.

Many leftists will undoubtedly scoff at the examples set forth here. Yet all of them are signposts pointing in exactly the same direction, awaiting the possible crowning achievement of making reality itself nothing more than the party-controlled, mental construct envisioned by Orwell. That’s the real agenda behind the bathroom wars. Nothing more, nothing less.
