"I don't know how to save the world. I don't have the answers or The Answer. I hold no secret knowledge as to how to fix the mistakes of generations past and present. I only know that without compassion and respect for all Earth's inhabitants, none of us will survive - nor will we deserve to." Leonard Peltier

Trump Versus the Politically Correct Road to Hell

This is no time for half measures--along with Trump I say "Damn the PCness, full speed ahead!"

Trump Versus the Politically Correct Road to Hell

Indeed the [surest] road to Hell is the gradual one—the gentle slope, soft underfoot, without sudden turnings, without milestones, without signposts….C.S. Lewis “The Screwtape Letters”
...political correctness basically amounts to nothing more nor less than a prohibition on speaking the truth. ...Expressed differently, when you hate the truth, then truth becomes “hate.”David Kupelian “Is Trump America’s knight in shining armor?”
The United States is on the road to hell, no doubt.  “We the people” have been traveling on it for decades—for the most part asleep at the wheel and cleverly lulled into a false sense of security.
I don’t mean hell in some existential spiritual sense, but in a mundane worldly way—hell on earth.  Hell in a “Killing Fields” sort of way.  “We the people” have been waking up to our peril mainly because the acceleration down that road has greatly increased in recent years.  Also, Donald Trump’s iconoclastic style has blown away the stale and fetid atmosphere of “politics as usual” like a full force gale.  And thank God for that.
Perhaps the most important thing that Trump has done is courageously refuse to be intimidated and muzzled by the strictures of political correctness.  The term “politically correct” implies that any other way of thinking, speaking, writing, or being is incorrect.
The stern inflexibility of political correctness means that reasoned debate and democratic plurality are silenced—you are either politically correct (PC) or you are incorrect, i.e. you are wrong, and if you are wrong it is best that you just keep your mouth shut.  In any event, what you have to say is not worth listening to.
The strict and humorless rigidity of PC was labeled “liberating tolerance” by Herbert Marcuse in the mid-1960s—an unintentionally humorous non sequitur if there ever was one.  By the term “liberating tolerance” Marcuse meant total and uncompromising intolerance toward anything opposed to what he considered PC.  The poisonous fruits of “liberating tolerance” are evident today in college campuses across the country.
Liberating tolerance, then, would mean intolerance against movements from the Right and toleration of movements from the Left.Herbert Marcuse “Repressive Tolerance
In other words, if you aren’t spouting leftist ideology then shut up.  So much for free speech and a fair exchange of ideas.  Marcuse’s “tolerance” boils down to “my way or the highway.”
Besides muzzling free speech, another insidious effect of PC is that it subtly shunts dialogue down restricted channels.  As Noam Chomsky noted years ago, if you control the parameters of a debate—what can and cannot be discussed—then you have already won.
“The smart way to keep people passive and obedient is to strictly limit the spectrum of acceptable opinion, but allow very lively debate within that spectrum - even encourage the more critical and dissident views. That gives people the sense that there’s free thinking going on, while all the time the presuppositions of the system are being reinforced by the limits put on the range of the debate.” Noam Chomsky “The Common Good”
One example of recent vintage on how PC “allows” debate about certain subjects and not others is the issue of transgender rights in North Carolina.  PC parameters encourage debate about the rights of transgender individuals, but treats discussion of the rights of heterosexual men and women as being inconsequential.  To quote Attorney General Loretta Lynch:
More to the point, they [North Carolina’s legislature] created state-sponsored discrimination against transgender individuals, who simply seek to engage in the most private of functions in a place of safety and security—a right taken for granted by most of us.  Attorney General Loretta Lynch 5/9/16
What is ignored in Lynch’s comments are the rights of the vast majority of “we the people”—who also wish “to engage in the most private of functions in a place of safety and security.”  The federal government wishes to deprive us of that “safety and security.”  Especially at risk are little girls and women of all ages.  When every Tom, Dick, and Harry is free to enter any women’s restroom at will, then I would say that every female’s right to privacy has been grossly violated.  But try telling that to the PC crowd.
In any event, to get back to my main point here: If he does nothing else, Trump’s curt dismissal of the importance of being PC has elevated him to the status of a champion of “we the people” in my book.  If the DC Republican elites consider Trump’s “America First” attitude to be an un-politically correct stance, to be un-conservative, then they can keep their brand of “conservatism”—I’ll stick with Trump.
The bottom line is this: The Big Government elites of both political parties, in collusion with Big Banking, Big Business, and Big Media, are tirelessly and blatantly promoting the destruction of Western civilization, nation states (countries), and freedom.  That is a globalist social engineering ploy that is destined to end very badly indeed.  From “The Terror” of the French Revolution (La Terreur) to the “Killing Fields” of Cambodia, history is littered with the ruins of leftist utopias turned into hells on earth.  This is no time for half measures—along with Trump I say “Damn the PCness, full speed ahead!”
