A little about us...VETERANS PROJECT & The Family Assistants Campaign.
We run this non-sectarian, non-partisan organization to ignite discussion on our world and in our communities, to educate our world about the injustice of aggressive violence.
We believe that in order to reach out to our peers most effectively, we cannot stand on religious arguments alone, and we cannot adhere entirely to one political side in our currently polarized culture. We believe that the consistent life ethic is not for any one religious group or for any one political position, but rather for everyone dedicated to human rights, life and dignity.
No matter your reason for believing in the inherent value of human life, we hope you can join us, and through our efforts we can together endeavor to make violence unthinkable -

US soldier’s heartbreaking response when asked to justify war
Here is a candid response to one of the questions an open question to U.S soldiers asking them how they justify their actions against innocent civilians abroad, here is his response just to help you understand what we veterans emotionally deal with everyday,
‘You kill. Watch friends die. It’s usually quick, almost never quiet, but for the rest of your life, when you remember sitting at the bar with them, they’re blown open. You picture the nights you spent downtown at Scruffy Murphy’s, but instead of the stupid hookah shell necklace, your boy’s jaw is blown off, and his left eye is ruined, and he’s screaming. You fight, you kill, you watch friends die, and you notice a distinct lack of change. You kick in doors and tell terrified women to sit on the floor while you and your friends ransack their home, tearing the place apart, because they might be hiding weapons. There is no reason to believe this house in particular is enemy, same for the next one, and the one after that, or the seven before; they just happened to be there, and maybe they had weapons. Probably not, they almost never did.’
The moving testimony is just a snippet from the refreshingly honest reply given by U.S soldier Daniel Crimmins when asked how military servicemen can be so “blase” about drone strikes and other civilian deaths due to the ‘War On Terror’."We can't expect our government to be the whole part and parcel of being the caretaker of men and women in the military."
Supporting the troops is not a political position, but a community responsibility. It comes down to awareness. Because less than one percent of the American population serves in the military, the majority of the country isn't attuned to veterans' everyday needs."That's a staggering statistic when you think that less than two million people defend over 300 million people,"
"So naturally there's going to be a massive part of the population that's going to have no clue as to what military service is about and what the families go through... The military serves in war, and you go to the mall."

Meals for Homeless Veterans
Giving the Gift of a Warm Meal
The Family Assistants Campaign.
From Your Hand to the Homeless
Veterans and Homelessness
There are many reasons Veterans can become homeless, including poverty, lack of support from family or friends, substance use, or mental health challenges that may develop or worsen as a result of trauma they experience while serving. Veterans Project is committed to meeting the needs of every Veteran. Comprehensive, individualized care including health care, housing assistance, job training, and education can help Veterans secure safe, stable housing and achieve self-sufficiency.
The 2014 Point-in-Time (PIT) count revealed that there were approximately 49,933 homeless Veterans on a single night in January 2014 in the United States. For the Veterans Project, even one Veteran without safe and stable housing is one too many.and that is why veterans project was started to help Veterans who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.
Veterans & Homelessness
Number of veterans approximately 23 million
Increasing numbers of returning military personnel: according to the Mass. Dept. of Veterans’ Services, approximately 31,000 service members have returned to the Commonwealth
Between 529,000 and 840,000 veterans are homeless at some time during the year.2
On any given night, more than 300,000 veterans are living on the streets or in shelters in the U.S.
Approx. 33% of homeless males in the U.S. are veterans.
Veterans are twice as likely as other Americans to become chronically homeless.
Veterans represent 11% of the adult civilian population, but 26% of the homeless population, according to the Homeless Research Institute.
Veterans are more at risk of becoming homeless than non-veterans
The number of homeless Vietnam-era veterans, male and female, is greater than the number of soldiers who died during the war.
Primary causes of homelessness among veterans are:
Lack of income due to limited education and lack of transferable skills from military to civilian life (especially true of younger veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan)
Combat-related physical health issues and disabilities
Combat-related mental health issues and disabilities
Substance abuse problems that interfere with job retention
Weak social networks due to problems adjusting to civilian life
Lack of services.
So we the people ask you to support this noble cause Veterans Project
Please forward this to as many of your contacts that you can and ask them to support this cause and to forward it to their contacts as well.

“Serving my country was a life-changing experience for me. It was during those years that I realized the importance of commitment, dedication, honor, and discipline. I have never laughed so much; nor have I ever prayed so much. I made life-long friends. The leaders and heroes I served with helped shape me into the man I am today. I feel honored to have been a part of such a great tradition and grateful to others who have walked the same path. Thank you!”
