 Can you imagine being anything but human?

 Can you imagine being anything but human? Not being able to succeed and go far in life? Well one of the many good things about being human is being able to learn and succeed in life. Being human has so many different meanings to different people. To me, being human means having the ability to think for yourself and also being able to do things that help yourself, and others.                        
   
Having the capability to think for oneself means that they’re helping meet the goals in life that they have put forth to accomplish. Doing objectives throughout life on your own enables you to learn new things about yourself and others, along with making decisions to lead you on the right path. Since humans have the advantage to think for themselves, we all have the ability to make ourselves unique. In the book Frankenstein, the monster said "What did this mean? Who was I? What was I? Whence did I come? What was my destination?  These questions continually recurred, but I was unable to solve them." Those are questions that we think about as humans and try finding answers to throughout our lives. We all get to think about the decisions in life and we all make the decision based on how it will help, or even hurt us in the long run. Most animals make superfluous decisions that makes them think their higher ranked in their surroundings, also they make decisions based on their instinct, which that instinct is help keep them alive. Now humans make decisions based on life and death also, but we make decisions based on improving our life and future too.
   
Another idea that separates humans from animals in my mind, is we help ourselves throughout life, and we help others when they feel like they need assistance. When I say helping yourself, I mean being capable of fixing previous mistakes to better ourselves and our lives. Whether it is going and apologizing to someone for making them cry or going back and fixing a mistake on an essay, we are doing it all to make ourselves a better person or we are doing it to help get further in life. Animals do not think about going and fixing something they did wrong. Last time I checked if an animal goes and hurts other animal’s feelings, they don't take the time to feel guilty and apologize. Humans usually fix their mistakes to make themselves a more accomplished person over all.
   
Now, I understand that some people disagree and they would say that my opinion on being human is way off. Some may say animals do think and they do apologize to better themselves, or even that they help each other out. I believe they do not. I'm sorry but I have never seen a horse kick another horse, and then see it take the other horse hay and kneel to say "I'm sorry."
   
We all have our own opinions on what it means to be human and they are all important to us. My important opinion on what makes a human, human is how we do things to improve our well-being and our future. Others may think having thumbs, and being able to talk is important. My problem with that though, is what about those that are disabled and cannot move or talk? Does that make them non-human because they are disabled? That is why I chose the overall thinking processes is what it means to be a human. Everyone can think, and everyone can better themselves from thinking.
