Diversity
“Diversity is the one true thing we all have in common. Celebrate it every day.” –Unknown
Diverse means: unlike in kind, unique.
We are, every single one of us, a completely unique and one-of-a-kind person. No set of fingerprints are the same. It boggles the mind that there could continue to be one-of-a-kinds after so many humans have come and gone, but God set it up that way and the well never runs dry on HIS creativity!
We cannot argue that we are NOT diverse – we are!
So we cannot ask anyone to see the world from our same, identical perspective. It is the differences of opinion and view that make us more vibrant and lively.
Diversity does not allow anyone to demand that you think their thoughts or mimic their views or refuse to state your own.
Celebrating diversity does not turn us into cookie-cutter images of someone’s ideology.
It sets us free to be ourselves in the deepest, richest sense.
For those of us who realize that we are called to be salt and light…..we must be who we were meant to be. Any theology that demands our thought and action reflect anything other than the sweet freedom God intends for us and the gentle direction of His love, is misguided and to be shunned.
Others may not “get” you all of the time, and you may not “get” them, but let’s learn to be joyous and full of light, even when the storm clouds arise.
Ephesians 4:7, The Message (MSG): “But that doesn’t mean you should all look and speak and act the same. Out of the generosity of Christ, each of us is given his own gift. The text for this is, He climbed the high mountain,
He captured the enemy and seized the booty,
He handed it all out in gifts to the people. Is it not true that the One who climbed up also climbed down, down to the valley of earth? And the One who climbed down is the One who climbed back up, up to highest heaven. He handed out gifts above and below, filled heaven with his gifts, filled earth with his gifts. He handed out gifts of apostle, prophet, evangelist, and pastor-teacher to train Christ’s followers in skilled servant work, working within Christ’s body, the church, until we’re all moving rhythmically and easily with each other, efficient and graceful in response to God’s Son, fully mature adults, fully developed within and without, fully alive like Christ.”

A Citizen Against Hunger
There is no valid argument for the destruction of our planet and any form of life on it.As human beings, our greatness lies not so much in being able to remake the world - that is the myth of the atomic age - as in being able to remake ourselves. Be the change that you want to see in the world.
