Ben Carson Questioned On The U.S. Government Funding Of ISIS

Ben Carson Questioned On The U.S. Government Funding Of ISIS

On February 25th the Republican Presidential Debate circus made its way to Houston, Texas. Rubio, Cruz, Kasich, Carson and Trump took to the stage to convince the people of Houston and millions of Americans that they deserve their support and vote.
Most of the candidates chose to continue the childish attacks which have become a staple in the American election cycle, and the corporate deadstream media played their typical role of lobbing softball questions at the candidates. Knowing that this would be the case I opted to attend the event as press and attempt to challenge these candidates.
In the media spin room I had a moment to challenge Dr. Ben Carson, a retired pediatric neurosurgeon, on his recent statements regarding his plan to deal with the rise of Islamic terror; specifically, how he would handle the dangers posed by Daesh (alternatively known as ISIS).
Carson recently wrote an op-ed for Fox News discussing his views of the situation, vowing to “declare war on ISIS”.
“For seven years we’ve all watched as America’s global leadership has declined and radical Islamic terrorism spread around the world,” Carson wrote. “The explosion of this global ideology of violent extremism is only accelerating, and innocent men, women and children are paying the price for our ineffective action and failure to lead.”
Carson states that the U.S. military “must fight this radical Islamic ideology wherever we find it, and by every means at our disposal.” I asked Carson how he plans to handle these issues, specifically the conflict in Syria. He responded with the standard line that the U.S. is seeking to remove Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and hopes to install an international coalition that can oversee Assad’s removal and installation of a new puppet government.
Interestingly, Carson also wrote that if he becomes president he will “destroy the means by which it gains revenue and cut off the supply routes on which it relies, and I will work with regional partners and local forces — including displaced Syrian men — to take back that country from the jihadists.” The reason this is interesting is because it has been heavily documented that the U.S. government’s funding of various “moderate” rebel groups helped lead to the creation of Daesh. My second and third questions to Carson focused on this funding.
Carson called the situation “complex” while doing his best to sidestep the actual question and instead discussed the need for regime change. When pressed further on whether or not he would end funding for the rebel groups he said “It depends on the rebel group and what they have been doing.” It seems obvious that a Carson presidency will include more international meddling by the U.S. government which will lead to an increase in anti-American sentiment, possibly fueling the rise of even more terrorism.
Carson goes on to write, “What will it take for America’s leaders to wake up to the true nature of radical Islamic terrorism?”. Perhaps we can start with presidential candidates acknowledging that the U.S. government has had a hand in funding and creating a number of terrorist groups over the last 70 years.
Carson also makes a reference to the San Bernardino shootings, stating that “President Obama refuses to acknowledge this threat for what it is: a radical ideology that seeks to violently impose Islam on others and supplant existing cultures and duly constituted governments around the world.” Yet again he seems painfully unaware that there is more than meets the eye when it comes to the San Bernardino shootings and many other terror attacks.
The politicians and would-be rulers will only continue their march towards control and destruction if We The People allow it. It is up to each and every awakened heart and mind to confront these people and educate them about what is going in the world. If they refuse to listen to the truth they should receive no support from us and we should actively campaign to expose them for the liars and crooks they truly are.
