Come home Republicans – your country needs you!

Republicans: This is Not Sunday School – Stand up for Your Country

Brethren, be not children in understanding: howbeit in malice be ye children, but in understanding be men.” – 1 Corinthians 14: 20

Republicans are taking the Sunday school approach to Donald Trump. In Sunday school children are taught that all Bible characters, David, Daniel, Moses et al – are either all good – or all bad.

After a half century of studying the bible one thing is abundantly clear – no one in the bible is all good or all bad, with the exception of Jesus Christ.

All the figures in scripture were men (and women) with faults, foibles, foolishness and a long list of human failings.

Donald Trump is a political figure of biblical proportions and he is also a very human kind of figure with all the wiles and weaknesses of us all. He is us - in anyone’s mirror.

Drifting Republicans may be asking more of Trump than they would ask of themselves or their own families.

He has openly admitted his indiscretions and has clearly declared that he is not proud of some of his past behaviors.

I don’t speak for everyone, but I know I cannot pick up the first stone to cast at Mr. Trump. I am a sinner saved by grace; I would hate to have to answer for the sins of my past or my youth.

I would not think of asking any principled American to throw out the strong convictions they hold about God and country and slide into a compromise that would hurt our nation. Some of the people I know who are ‘Never Trumper’s’ are people I hold in the highest regard. I would, however, call them to aid their country in a time of serious danger or need.
This is one of those times!

The election of Hillary Clinton will plunge the nation into uncertain times that will only deepen the darkness that the Obama administration has laid upon our nation. Every policy, every proposal, and every bit of her past is a warning sign.

Call me naïve, but if you are a conservative, a Republican and even a Christian then it seems understood that you are already a step above average and a person endowed with enough wisdom to see the obvious danger that Hillary poses to the future of these United States.

Mr. Trump is standing by both conservative and Republican principles – can we come down from our high horses to stand with him?

Let’s look.

Donald Trump has…

• Made public amends for his indiscretions.
• Chosen the best running mate in Gov. Mike Pence.
• Allowed himself to be counseled and prepped by the best of the GOP advisors.
• Polished up and shown maturity while on the stump, demonstrating that he is a quick understudy.
• Stands against any and all tampering with our first and second amendment rights.
• Offers economic savvy that Hillary simply does not possess.
• Is a favorite of evangelicals and top military brass.
• Respects the faith of all believers.
• Has a wonderful all-American family to his credit.

I will not presume to rebuke or castigate full grown American people, but I would gladly do all I can to appeal to their better senses and provoke them to stand with this man – who is standing up for America.

Come home Republicans – your country needs you!
