We run this non-sectarian, non-partisan organization to ignite discussion on our world and in our communities, to educate our world about the injustice of aggressive violence.

We believe that in order to reach out to our peers most effectively, we cannot stand on religious arguments alone, and we cannot adhere entirely to one political side in our currently polarized culture. We believe that the consistent life ethic is not for any one religious group or for any one political position, but rather for everyone dedicated to human rights, life and dignity.

Hundreds of non-governmental agencies provide various veterans services and all can use contributions of time, money or goods.I advocates for compulsory military or Peace Corps service for young people as a means of raising awareness of veterans' contributions."If you do that, in less than 10 years, you've created a whole generation of Americans who've had a shared experience of contributing to this country,"

While it is acknowledges the approach might be radical, the result would be a greater understanding of the sacrifices made by service members and their families. But it doesn't have to be so extreme. Just thinking about making a gesture of thanks is a good first step,

Joseph F Barber is the Executive Director and founder of veterans project.
, After receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree from University of Miami, Mr barber went on to complete his Education in constitutional law,and Mechanical engineering and metal working,Was and honor graduate of the Aberdeen Proving Grounds metal workers school U.S.Army 44b10. And a small Business owner Tradesmen Services,Mr Barber implements a full service for participants of veterans project who are homeless and veterans of all America's wars

Since founding veterans Project in early 2013,Mr Barber has taken on the overall operation of Veterans Project Social Services Program including strategic planning, development, and implementation of programs and ensuring quality services are rendered to low-income and homeless individuals, for homeless Veterans, and services for homeless children and veterans

General Information

One particular approach to improving overall services to our families and residents is through our Veterans Project starts where the family or individual is and helps them navigate employment, medical, educational, psychological and any other service or program that will help empower their life.

Awards In the initial years of operations, information will disseminated about veterans project to the target population. Clients who are interested in participating in to moving towards economic independence will be enrolled in the program. We will work with them to create an individual training and services plan, and refer them to services based on their needs.

Within this time period the anticipated outcomes include: at least 80% of clients will achieve their goals and be employed or enrolled in an appropriate education program; at least 50% of clients will transition to economic independence within 24 months of enrollment in case-management services; and 100% of clients will enjoy enhanced access to needed services via referrals, case management, transportation and/or other assistance, as needed.

Identify, strategize, and network with other organizations for funding opportunities to enhance overall programs and opportunities for low income and at risk families

There are many reasons Veterans can become homeless, including poverty, lack of support from family or friends, substance use, or mental health challenges that may develop or worsen as a result of trauma they experience while serving. Veterans Project  is committed to meeting the needs of every Veteran. Comprehensive, individualized care including health care, housing assistance, job training, and education can help Veterans secure safe, stable housing and achieve self-sufficiency.

The 2014 Point-in-Time (PIT) count revealed that there were approximately 49,933 homeless Veterans on a single night in January 2014 in the United States.  For the Veterans Project, even one Veteran without safe and stable housing is one too many.and that is why veterans project was started to help Veterans who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.


Veterans & Homelessness



Number of veterans  approximately 23 million

Increasing numbers of returning military personnel:  according to the Mass. Dept. of Veterans’ Services, approximately 31,000 service members have returned to the Commonwealth

Between 529,000 and 840,000 veterans are homeless at some time during the year.2

On any given night, more than 300,000 veterans are living on the streets or in shelters in the U.S.

Approx. 33% of homeless males in the U.S. are veterans.

Veterans are twice as likely as other Americans to become chronically homeless.

Veterans represent 11% of the adult civilian population, but 26% of the homeless population, according to the Homeless Research Institute.

Veterans are more at risk of becoming homeless than non-veterans

The number of homeless Vietnam-era veterans, male and female, is greater than the number of soldiers who died during the war.

Primary causes of homelessness among veterans are:

Lack of income due to limited education and lack of transferable skills from military to civilian life (especially true of younger veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan)

Combat-related physical health issues and disabilities

Combat-related mental health issues and disabilities

Substance abuse problems that interfere with job retention

Weak social networks due to problems adjusting to civilian life

Lack of services.

Meals for Homeless Veterans

While veterans represent 8% of the total population in the United States, they are disproportionately represented among our homeless: a startling 12% of the homeless population are veterans, or 16% of homeless adults. Most homeless veterans–over 90%–are male. About half of homeless veterans are disabled.

A recent study conducted by the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) reports that on any given night there may be over 75,600 homeless veterans in shelters and on the streets across the country. Over the course of one year (October 2008-September 2009), 136,334 veterans spent at least one night in a shelter or transitional housing program, more than 5,000 of them alongside their families.

While veterans represent 8% of the total population in the United States, they are disproportionately represented among our homeless: a startling 12% of the homeless population are veterans, or 16% of homeless adults. Most homeless veterans--over 90%--are male. About half of homeless veterans are disabled.

Nearly three million veterans and their families don't have enough to eat each month. This is in addition to the physical, mental, and emotional trauma many veterans contend with every day.

Two-thirds of America's homeless veterans served for at least three years, and one-third were stationed in a war zone. They have served in all the conflicts of recent years, including Afghanistan and Iraq (OEF/OIF).

Around the United States, community groups are hampered by lack of space, lack of funding, and a lack of publicity about the numbers of veterans who are homeless and the challenges they face while trying to turn their lives around. As a result, veterans in need of help don't have many places to turn.

Hopefully one day we won’t have any homeless vets, or homeless people at all. In the meantime, having a few care packages to hand out is a great way to help out, and can be a fun group project for your family, church group, or book club!

On any given day we the people have some 300,000 veterans on the streets of America Every day, 22 veterans take their own lives in this count our family has added my oldest son to the deaths by suicide in our country Joshua was is name he was 28 and a beautiful boy  . That's a suicide every 65 minutes. As shocking as the number is, it may actually be higher. WITH YOUR HELP WE CAN ASSIST MANY MANY MORE

U.S. War Death Statistics

Question, why are so many veterans of our wars, including those still in the military committing suicide? Apparently, more than 22 veterans each day according to the Department of Veterans Affairs.

An estimated 22 veterans commit suicide each day. Acknowledging it as too high of a number, veterans from Murfreesboro, Tennessee are taking a stand.

Former United States Marines Joseph Wolf and Matthew O’Dell intend to stand near the Murfreesboro Square on the 22nd day of each month and, with the help of anyone that will join, save lives. They are not asking for money. They ask only that passersby become aware of this issue.

In the video, Wolf and O’Dell speak candidly about their own bouts with PTSD, depression and suicide.





I certainly don’t have a definitive answer although I can speculate on some possible reasons.

What screams loudly in this head, these guys-maybe some women-just can’t re-engage with the superficial, indifferent, disconnected society-back in the “world”- they've been thrust back into returning home compared with the shared life and death ordeal they faced each day relying on the men next to them just to survive in war.

I’ve heard of some GI’s re-upping choosing to go back in the war zone presumably to recapture that “lost” connection they had with the men they fought with. Maybe to them it returns a sort of meaning to their lives.

It is our best hope that we can assist them were the government and other none profits do not or will not large amounts of money every day go to the organizations and less than half ever reaches the troops in need and I have found few places that will house a troop for more than a few days or give them the true support and love they need with our group of people 100% of everything we take in goes back to a troop we keep nothing for our time or like other organizations take a modest administration fee for the efforts which amounts to millions going to the one in need of nothing or no help we have seen this with our own eyes,our government is doing nothing for these vets and in fact as we all can see the VA is a dangerous place these days,

And in all the madness many seem have forgotten the women who have served we the people they to are equally veterans as any man and suffer just as well let us not forget Her War

I believe that to meet the challenges of our times, human beings will have to develop a greater sense of universal responsibility. Each of us must learn to work not just for one self, one's own family or one's nation, but for the benefit of all humankind. Universal responsibility is the key to human survival. It is the best foundation for world peace

Homeless “survival kits.”

We Create and distribute kits that include items such as cups, pots, pans, soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and cosmetics. ( We Try coordinating this through a group that gives out meals from a van, for example.)  During cold weather, organize drives for blankets, coats, hats, scarves, mittens, socks, and the like.

Phone calls.  Help people experiencing homelessness contact loved ones by offering the opportunity to make free long distance calls on holidays. Donate to or organize a cell phone drive for the homeless.

First They Came for Confederate Generals, Then for Black Conservatives


The Benjamin Carson High School of Science and Medicine near the Detroit Medical Center has an ambitious program of preparing its mostly African-American students for careers in medicine.

Students from Ben Carson High recently toured a hospital and experienced what it’s like to be doctors.

The school’s name, in its own words, honors “Dr. Benjamin Carson whose journey from impoverished, inner-city Detroit youth to acclaimed neurosurgeon is remarkable and is a constant reminder to Benjamin Carson students that their career dreams are achievable.”

Or maybe not.

The Detroit school board voted to rename the school under guidelines that say a school can be renamed when it doesn’t reflect the student population or when “information newly discovered about the current name of the school is negative in nature.”

LaMar Lemmons, a Democrat, was the leading advocate for removing Ben Carson's name from the school. Lemmons, who along with his wife, Georgia Lemmons, sits on the school board, has used his position to blame Michigan’s emergency managers for all of Detroit’s self-created problems.

Lemmons, a “Bernie-crat”, also got his completely unprepared sister-in-law elected to the State Senate.

“Quite frankly, it is a political thing,” he admitted. “We named a school after an individual who is in the Trump administration.”

The Democrat insisted that having a medical sciences school named after a brilliant African-American surgeon from Detroit was “synonymous with having Trump’s name on our school in blackface.”

“When you align yourself with Trump, that is a direct affront to the city of Detroit and the students of Detroit,” he insisted.

If the name change goes forward, it may be the first instance of a school being renamed because it was named after a Republican.

Lemmons is okay with a school being named after a white slaveholder, but not a black conservative.

“Lewis Cass was a slaveholder,” Lemmons said. “But I would never recommend changing the name of Cass.”

Also on the nomenclature chopping block, for unclear reasons, is the Frederick Douglass Academy for Young Men.

Ben Carson isn’t the only African-American conservative being targeted by the renaming squad.

Last month, a petition to change the name of Savannah College of Art and Design's Clarence Thomas Center for Historic Preservation received favorable media coverage.

The petition was put forward by a former student named Sage Lucero. Clarence Thomas is the grandson of sharecroppers from rural Georgia. Lucero is a Brooklyn hipster and junior copywriter.

Lucero's illiterate petition demanded that the Center be renamed after Anita Hill, "A woman who stood up for herself despite being denied of true justice."

She ranted that Justice Thomas "wrongfully won against a woman’s word."

The building was named after Thomas because he had served there as an altar boy.

Instead of filing the petition in the internet’s underwear drawer, the media hurriedly amplified the white leftist’s grievance against the highest ranking African-American judge in the country. One media outlet breathlessly reported that the petition had over 500 signatures. And then actually interviewed Sage.

The president of the Savannah College of Art and Design (or, as Sage put it, “one of the president’s”) actually contacted her about her ridiculously ignorant petition.

“I don’t want any other female who has hopes and dreams to have to walk through the doors of that building," Lucero, who lives in New York, insisted.

She also claimed that “many of the students feel unsafe about the building” and that she wanted to start a conversation about “diversity” by taking a black man’s name off a building.

When Lamar Bowman wrote a counter-petition that received over 20,000 signatures, no one in the media interviewed him to learn why he thought that Thomas’ presence on campus spoke of its “dedication to the struggles and achievements of millions of African Americans.”

Or why he wrote that Thomas’ story “is one that I want my children to know and understand.”

Lamar’s story, like Thomas’ story and Carson’s story, is not the story that the media is interested in.

It took protests from Capitol Hill for Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture to include Clarence Thomas. But not before it had included Colin Kaepernick and Anita Hill.

When the renaming cultural revolution took off, it was under the guise of fighting racism. And now it’s come full circle to fighting against the legacy of conservative African-Americans.

The parade of renamings has drifted into the realm of the ridiculous. In Portland, Lynch Meadows, Lynch Wood and Lynch View elementary schools were renamed because they had the word, "Lynch" in them. The schools were named after Patrick Lynch, a berry farmer, who donated some land to build schools.

Renaming schools named after a berry farmer, who shares a last name with former Attorney General Loretta Lynch and numerous other African-Americans, has nothing to do with fighting racism.

It’s political correctness.

Political correctness doesn’t actually fight racism. It only pretends to do so, exploiting outrage over racism to justify its power grabs. The point of renaming a school named Lynch isn’t to fight racism, but to wield the power to rename schools. Renaming educational institutions and buildings named after African-American conservatives however is the core purpose for which that power is truly wielded.

The renaming revolution was not about fighting dead Confederate generals. It was a convenient pretext for legitimizing a politically correct purge. Outrage over racism and slavery was used to build a movement whose ultimate targets were not dead 19th century rebels, but living conservatives.

Including the greatest threat of them all, African-American conservatives.

Political correctness doesn’t fight discrimination. It implements it. And its machine for suppressing intellectual diversity inevitably reaches the same African-Americans, women, gay people and others whom it claims to be protecting from discrimination when they dissent from political correctness.

The Left begins by fighting racism and then implements it.

African-Americans are the group most frequently abused as a pretext for political correctness, and so African-American conservatives pose the greatest threat to the power of political correctness.

The existence of a Clarence Thomas or a Ben Carson undermines the ideological infrastructure that has been used to silence hundreds of millions of Americans in the name of millions of African-Americans who never sought such a silencing. The renamings don’t just attack Carson or Thomas as individuals, they erase their existence. This political genocide removes people whom the Left thinks shouldn’t exist.

Political correctness exploits the suffering, the history and the bodies of African-Americans to suppress other African-Americans. While it divides the country along racial lines, it also divides racial groups internally, putting its activists in charge of forcing African-Americans into conformity with the Left.

Black leftist activists are given power by white leftists in order to keep other African-Americans in line

Erasing Thomas and Carson also erases the identities of countless African-American conservatives, the history of African-American conservatism, and the values of African-American conservatism.

It tells the students at Benjamin Carson High School of Science and Medicine that they shouldn’t learn from his journey or adopt his values. They shouldn’t aspire to be succesThanks for your support sful surgeons, but aggrieved victims whose only purpose is to serve as foot soldiers in the culture wars of their leftist masters.

The Left is not really at war with the unalterable past. It is at war with the future.

The students at Benjamin Carson High and at the Savannah College of Art and Design are that future. By destroying the past and present of African-American conservatism, the Left hopes to destroy its future.

Joseph F Barber is the Executive Director and founder of veterans project., After receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree from University of Miami, Mr barber went on to complete his Education in constitutional law,and Mechanical engineering and metal working,Was and honor graduate of the Aberdeen Proving Grounds metal workers school U.S.Army 44b10. And a small Business owner Tradesmen Services,Mr Barber implements a full service for participants of veterans project who are homeless and veterans of all America's wars



Since founding veterans Project in early 2013,Mr Barber has taken on the overall operation of Veterans Project Social Services Program including strategic planning, development, and implementation of programs and ensuring quality services are rendered to low-income and homeless individuals, for homeless Veterans, and services for homeless children and veterans



General Information



One particular approach to improving overall services to our families and residents is through our Veterans Project starts where the family or individual is and helps them navigate employment, medical, educational, psychological and any other service or program that will help empower their life.

Awards In the initial years of operations, information will disseminated about veterans project to the target population. Clients who are interested in participating in to moving towards economic independence will be enrolled in the program. We will work with them to create an individual training and services plan, and refer them to services based on their needs.



Within this time period the anticipated outcomes include: at least 80% of clients will achieve their goals and be employed or enrolled in an appropriate education program; at least 50% of clients will transition to economic independence within 24 months of enrollment in case-management services; and 100% of clients will enjoy enhanced access to needed services via referrals, case management, transportation and/or other assistance, as needed.



Identify, strategize, and network with other organizations for funding opportunities to enhance overall programs and opportunities for low income and at risk families

There are many reasons Veterans can become homeless, including poverty, lack of support from family or friends, substance use, or mental health challenges that may develop or worsen as a result of trauma they experience while serving. Veterans Project  is committed to meeting the needs of every Veteran. Comprehensive, individualized care including health care, housing assistance, job training, and education can help Veterans secure safe, stable housing and achieve self-sufficiency.



The 2014 Point-in-Time (PIT) count revealed that there were approximately 49,933 homeless Veterans on a single night in January 2014 in the United States.  For the Veterans Project, even one Veteran without safe and stable housing is one too many.and that is why veterans project was started to help Veterans who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.

Increasing numbers of returning military personnel:  according to the Mass. Dept. of Veterans’ Services, approximately 31,000 service members have returned to the Commonwealth

Between 529,000 and 840,000 veterans are homeless at some time during the year.2

On any given night, more than 300,000 veterans are living on the streets or in shelters in the U.S.

Approx. 33% of homeless males in the U.S. are veterans.

Veterans are twice as likely as other Americans to become chronically homeless.

Veterans represent 11% of the adult civilian population, but 26% of the homeless population, according to the Homeless Research Institute.

Veterans are more at risk of becoming homeless than non-veterans

The number of homeless Vietnam-era veterans, male and female, is greater than the number of soldiers who died during the war.

Primary causes of homelessness among veterans are:

Lack of income due to limited education and lack of transferable skills from military to civilian life (especially true of younger veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan)

Combat-related physical health issues and disabilities

Combat-related mental health issues and disabilities

Substance abuse problems that interfere with job retention

Weak social networks due to problems adjusting to civilian life

Lack of services.

On any given day we the people have some 300,000 veterans on the streets of America Every day, 22 veterans take their own lives in this count our family has added my oldest son to the deaths by suicide in our country Joshua was is name he was 28 and a beautiful boy  . Question, why are so many veterans of our wars, including those still in the military committing suicide? Apparently, more than 22 veterans each day according to the Department of Veterans Affairs.

An estimated 22 veterans commit suicide each day. Acknowledging it as too high of a number, veterans from Murfreesboro, Tennessee are taking a stand.



Former United States Marines Joseph Wolf and Matthew O’Dell intend to stand near the Murfreesboro Square on the 22nd day of each month and, with the help of anyone that will join, save lives. They are not asking for money. They ask only that passersby become aware of this issue.





In the video, Wolf and O’Dell speak candidly about their own bouts with PTSD, depression and suicide.





I certainly don’t have a definitive answer although I can speculate on some possible reasons.



What screams loudly in this head, these guys-maybe some women-just can’t re-engage with the superficial, indifferent, disconnected society-back in the “world”- they've been thrust back into returning home compared with the shared life and death ordeal they faced each day relying on the men next to them just to survive in war.



I’ve heard of some GI’s re-upping choosing to go back in the war zone presumably to recapture that “lost” connection they had with the men they fought with. Maybe to them it returns a sort of meaning to their lives.

It is our best hope that we can assist them were the government and other none profits do not or will not large amounts of money every day go to the organizations and less than half ever reaches the troops in need and I have found few places that will house a troop for more than a few days or give them the true support and love they need with our group of people 100% of everything we take in goes back to a troop we keep nothing for our time or like other organizations take a modest administration fee for the efforts which amounts to millions going to the one in need of nothing or no help we have seen this with our own eyes,our government is doing nothing for these vets and in fact as we all can see the VA is a dangerous place these days,



And in all the madness many seem have forgotten the women who have served we the people they to are equally veterans as any man and suffer just as well let us not forget Her War

Global Cooling is Real

Global Cooling is Real – Major Temperature Low 2046?


While NASA has now confirmed that the outer atmosphere is getting cooler, it seems desperately insane for people to keep denying the possibility the Global Cooling is taking place rather than Global Warming when the former brings famine and the latter brings economic expansion as civilizations rise. The rise of Rome was due to global warming as was the case after the Dark Age when they call that the Medieval Warming Period which was 950 to 1300AD.

The concern from just a technical model perspective is that the warming period we have had post-1600 and the low of the Little Ice Age has not exceeded that of the Medieval Warming Period. If we simply look at this chart from a technical perspective, it appears more that we are in a grand downtrend for the past 6,000 years. This is deeply concerning for we tend to have these periods where civilization turns downward. It would be very nice if we just had authoritative research funded to explore Global Cooling to save society rather than this nonsense of Global Warming just to raise money for politicians who NEVER get enough.



In Australia, with one week from summer, it is still snowing on Victoria. In fact, one of the top NASA scientists has broken camp and warned that the surface temperature of the sun has collapsed so much, he fears a new Ice Age is upon us. Meanwhile, this has been the COLDEST Thanksgiving in 150 years!

What we must understand is this has gone beyond just breaking records for one-day events. This time around, it’s not just the severity of the cold that’s getting to people. It’s also the DURATION! The most reliable computer model projections have shown that the Arctic air has moved all the way down into Texas. Indeed, here in Tampa, the temperature is about 10 degrees below normal at times. The decline in the energy output of the sun has been far more rapid than most expected. This could perhaps be a warning sign that we will make a new lower low or retest the low temperatures on a sustained basis that match the Little Ice Age.
The Little Ice Age marked a period of cool summers and bitterly cold winters to New England. There was the Great Snow of 1717, which buried houses and resulted in having to organize search parties that were even lost while looking for buried survivors. Them there was the fame Cold Friday of 1810. People actually died in their homes as the temperature suddenly plummeted more than 60 degrees in less than a day. It was years later when Henry David Thoreau’s mother recalled how dishes froze as fast as they were washed even right next to the fire.

The Post Office even issued commemorative stamps in 1976 noting that winter event. Washington and his troops suffered more in Morristown, N.J., during the Hard Winter of 1779-80. Violent snowstorms had battered the Northeast, and both Boston and New York harbors were completely frozen over. The weather made it impossible to bring supplies to the men, many of whom had no coats or even shoes. They couldn’t even eat for days at a time. The soldiers finally mutinied in early May, though an officer persuaded them to abandon their rebellion. Just as the weather had defeated Napoleon, weather nearly defeated the American Revolution.

If this trend continues during the next winter, then we have exceeded any short-term reactionary trend and the weather appears poised to continue to get colder going into the distant future. Socrates was projecting that the peak on this cycle aligned with the ECM 2015.75. This is a Longitudinal Cycle, not Transverse. That means peak to bottom varies. This short-term wave should be a 13-year decline from 2015 making it 2028 initially. After that, if we see colder winters beyond 2028, then the next low will be with the peak in the ECM 2032. There is a SERIOUS RISK that we are looking at the final low coming in during the period of 2046.

President Donald Trump’s recent statement on the Jamal Khashoggi killing by Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince might well be considered a metaphor for his foreign policy. Several commentators have suggested that the text appears to be something that Trump wrote himself without any adult supervision, similar to the poorly expressed random arguments presented in his tweeting only longer. That might be the case, but it would not be wise to dismiss the document as merely frivolous or misguided as it does in reality express the kind of thinking that has produced a foreign policy that seems to drift randomly to no real end, a kind of leaderless creative destruction of the United States as a world power.

Lord Palmerston, Prime Minister of Britain in the mid nineteenth century, famously said that “Nations have no permanent friends or allies, they only have permanent interests.”The United States currently has neither real friends nor any clearly defined interests. It is, however, infested with parasites that have convinced an at-drift America that their causes are identical to the interests of the United States. Leading the charge to reduce the U.S. to “bitch” status, as Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard has artfully put it, are Israel and Saudi Arabia, but there are many other countries, alliances and advocacy groups that have learned how to subvert and direct the “leader of the free world.”

Trump’s memo on the Saudis begins with the headline “The world is a very dangerous place!” Indeed, it is and behavior by the three occupants of the White House since 2000 is largely to blame. It is difficult to find a part of the world where an actual American interest is being served by Washington’s foreign and global security policies. Indeed, a national security policy that sees competitors and adversaries as enemies in a military sense has made nuclear war, unthinkable since the demise of the Soviet Union in 1991, thinkable once again. The fact that no one is the media or in political circles is even talking about that terrible danger suggests that war has again become mainstreamed, tacitly benefiting from bipartisan acceptance of it as a viable foreign policy tool by the media, in the U.S. Congress and also in the White House.

The part of the world where American meddling coupled with ignorance has produced the worst result is inevitably the Middle East. Washington has been led by the nose by Israel and Saudi Arabia, currently working in sync, to have the United States destroy Iran even though the Iranians represent no threat whatsoever to Americans or any serious U.S. interests. The wildly skewed view of what is taking place in that region is reflected in Trump’s memo in the first paragraph, which reads:

“The country of Iran, as an example, is responsible for a bloody proxy war against Saudi Arabia in Yemen, trying to destabilize Iraq’s fragile attempt at democracy, supporting the terror group Hezbollah in Lebanon, propping up dictator Bashar Assad in Syria (who has killed millions of his own citizens), and much more. Likewise, the Iranians have killed many Americans and other innocent people throughout the Middle East. Iran states openly, and with great force, ‘Death to America!’ and ‘Death to Israel!’ Iran is considered ‘the world’s leading sponsor of terror.’”

Almost all of that is either patently untrue or grossly exaggerated, meaning that Trump’s profoundly ignorant statement is remarkable for the number of lies that it incorporates into 631 words which are wrapped around a central premise that the United States will always do whatever it wants wherever it wants just because it can. The war being waged by the Saudis against Yemen, which reportedly has killed as many as 80,000 children, is not a proxy struggle against Iran as Trump prefers to think. It is naked aggression bordering on genocide that is enabled by the United States under completely false pretenses. Iran did not start the war and plays almost no role in it apart from serving as a Saudi and Emirati excuse to justify the fighting. Other lies include that Bashar al-Assad of Syria has killed millions of his own citizens and that Saudi Arabia is fighting terrorism. Quite the contrary is true as the Saudis have been a major source of Islamic terrorism. And as for Iran being the “world’s leading sponsor of terrorism,” that honor currently belongs to the U.S., Israel and the Saudis.

The core of Trump’s thinking about Khashoggi and the Saudis comes down to Riyadh’s willingness to buy weapons to benefit America’s defense contractors and this one sentence: “The United States intends to remain a steadfast partner of Saudi Arabia to ensure the interests of our country, Israel and all other partners in the region.” Yes, once again it is Israel pulling Trump’s strings, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu leading the charge to give Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman a pass on the gruesome murder of a legal resident of the United States who, once upon a time, might have actually had the U.S. government on his side.
The reckless calibrations employed to set American policies in other parts of the world are also playing out badly. Russia has been hounded relentlessly since the 2016 election, wasting the opportunity to establish a modus vivendi that Trump appeared to be offering in his campaign. Russian and American soldiers confront each other in Syria, where the U.S. has absolutely no real interests beyond supporting feckless Israel and Saudi Arabia in an unnecessary armed conflict that has already been lost. There is now talk of war coming from both Moscow and Washington while NATO in the middle has turned aggressive in an attempt to justify its existence. The bilateral relationship between the U.S. and Russia is now worse than it was towards the end of the Cold War while the expansion of NATO up to Russia’s doorstep has threatened the Kremlin’s vital interests without advancing any interest of the United States.

Afghanistan has become the longest war in U.S. history with no end in sight and China too has seen what began as a dispute over trade turned into something more vitriolic, a military rivalry over the South China Sea that could explode. And North Korea? A love fest between two leaders that is devoid of content.

One might also add Venezuela to the list, with the U.S. initiating sanctions over the state of the country’s internal politics and even considering, according to some in the media, a military intervention.

All of the White House’s actions have one thing in common and that is that they do not benefit Americans in any way unless one works for a weapons manufacturer, and that is not even taking into consideration the dead soldiers and civilians and the massive debt that has been incurred to intervene all over the world. One might also add that most of America’s interventions are built on deliberate lies by the government and its associated media, intended to increase tension and create a casus belli where none exists.

So what is to be done as it often seems that the best thing Trump has going for him is that he is not Hillary Clinton? First of all, a comprehensive rethink of what the real interests of the United States are in the world arena is past due. America is less safe now than it was in 2001 as it continues to make enemies with its blundering everywhere it goes. There are now four times as many designated terrorists as there were in 2001, active in 70 countries. One would quite plausibly soon arrive at George Washington’s dictum in his Farewell Address, counseling his countrymen to “observe good faith and justice towards all nations; cultivate peace and harmony with all.” And Washington might have somehow foreseen the poisonous relationships with Israel and the Saudis when he warned that “…a passionate attachment of one nation for another produces a variety of evils. Sympathy for the favorite nation, facilitating the illusion of an imaginary common interest in cases where no real common interest exists, and infusing into one the enmities of the other, betrays the former into a participation in the quarrels and wars of the latter without adequate inducement or justification.”
George Washington or any of the other Founders would be appalled to see an America with 800 military bases overseas, allegedly for self-defense. The transfer of wealth from taxpayers to the military industrial complex and related entities like Wall Street has been catastrophic. The United States does not need to protect Israel and Saudi Arabia, two countries that are armed to the teeth and well able to defend themselves. Nor does it have to be in Syria and Afghanistan. And, by the way, Russia is no longer the Soviet Union and NATO should be abolished.

If the United States were to withdraw its military from the Middle East and the rest of Asia tomorrow, it would be to nearly everyone’s benefit. If the armed forces were to be subsequently reduced to a level sufficient to defend the United States it would put money back in the pockets of Americans and end the continuous fearmongering through surfacing of “threats” by career militarists justifying the bloated budgets.

Will that produce the peaceable kingdom? Probably not, but there are signs that some in powerful positions are beginning to see the light. Senator Rand Paul’s courageous decision to place a “hold” on aid to Israel is long overdue as Israel is a liability to the United States and is also legally ineligible for aid due to its undeclared nuclear arsenal and its unwillingness to sign the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). The hysterical reactions of American Jews and Israel suggest that any redirection of U.S. Middle East policy will produce a hostile reaction from the Establishment, but even small steps in the right direction could initiate a gradual process of turning the United States into a more normal country in its relationships with the rest of the world rather than a universal predator and bully.

A former Supreme Court justice is calling for its repeal. One in five Americans want to see it go. The president has come out swinging in its defense.
The Second Amendment has emerged as a dubious target in the U.S. gun debate after a March 27 New York Times op-ed by former justice John Paul Stevens suggested that repealing the amendment would be a "simple" way to move toward gun law reform. A survey conducted in February by The Economist and YouGov found that 21 percent of Americans favor repealing the Second, which reads "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." President Donald Trump tweeted in response that "THE SECOND AMENDMENT WILL NEVER BE REPEALED," while many activists for gun-law reform said that repeal was not a goal.
"I think a proposal to amend the Constitution to substantially change the Second Amendment would more likely be used by the NRA [National Rifle Association] to galvanize their supporters and maybe even engage less active gun owners," Rep. David Cicilline (D-RI) told The Atlantic.
So that's modern politics. But what of Stevens' assertion that repeal would be "simple?" There's historical precedent for that. Only one constitutional amendment has ever been enacted to repeal another. The Twenty-First Amendment, ratified in 1933, repealed the Eighteenth Amendment, ratified in 1919, which had instituted Prohibition.
The Eighteenth Amendment prohibited the manufacture, sale or transportation of "intoxicating liquors," but the resulting explosion in black markets, bootlegged liquor and organized crime turned public opinion against Prohibition, according to The National Constitution Center.
Public support for the Eighteenth Amendment was never particularly overwhelming anyway, according to The Mob Museum in Las Vegas. In 1922, just three years after the ban on alcohol went into effect, 20 percent of people wanted to see the Eighteenth Amendment repealed, and 40 percent wanted to see modifications to the Volstead Act, the legislation designed to enforce the amendment, according to the museum's online Prohibition history.
By the late 1920s, public opinion was increasingly souring on Prohibition, especially after the 1929 Saint Valentine's Day Massacre, the execution-style killing of seven members of Chicago's North Side Gang. According to the Mob Museum, even Prohibition advocates were over the Eighteen Amendment: Pauline Sabin, the first female member of the Republican National Committee and a former advocate of Prohibition, switched sides in 1929 and started campaigning for repeal. It would be a bit like Wayne LaPierre, the executive vice president of the National Rifle Association, suddenly deciding to oppose the Second Amendment today.
Meanwhile, as the Great Depression sent unemployment skyrocketing and shantytowns named "Hoovervilles" after President Herbert Hoover popped up around cities, anti-Prohibition advocates declared that repealing the Eighteenth Amendment would open up new sources of revenue for the government and new sources of employment for the destitute.
"By repealing an experiment which, however rightfully intentioned, has failed with lamentable consequence, we should raise vast revenues for the government, we should greatly help agriculture, we should substantially decrease unemployment." John J. Raskob, the chairman of the Democratic National Committee at the time, was quoted as saying in a 1931 economic report. (That report concluded that repeal would bring in almost $1 billion to the federal treasury annually.)
In 1932, Franklin Roosevelt campaigned, in part, for repeal, also using the economic argument for taxing alcohol sales. He won handily over Hoover, who was widely blamed for the Great Depression. The now Democrat-controlled House and Senate started plotting out the Twenty-First Amendment shortly after the election.
Article V of the Constitution provides two paths to amending the Constitution. The first requires two-thirds of state legislatures to call a Constitutional Convention. The Twenty-First Amendment went the second route: Congress called for the amendment with a more than two-thirds majority vote, sending it to the states, which were required to hold referendum votes. These votes would then bind delegates to a convention in each state, where there were straight yes-and-no votes on whether to approve the amendment. According to the Mob Museum, the goal was to avoid "dry" state representatives from holding up the amendment.
The process moved swiftly. Congress passed the repeal of Prohibition on Feb. 21, 1933. Utah approved the amendment on Nov. 7, 1933, providing the necessary two-thirds majority to send it back to Congress, which ratified the amendment on Dec. 5, 1933
