WAKE UP, AMERICA... DUTY CALLS! we welcome you to... THE NEW AMERICAN REVOLUTION "We have therefore resolved to conquer or die. The new nation's founders were dedicated to the propositions that all people are created equal; that all people have an unalienable right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness; that government is created by and for the people, and derives its just powers from the will of the governed. The American people revolted against British rule because, while they suffered under the dictates of that government, they were denied any representation in it. They simply refused to allow the continued reign of an arrogant foreign despot that ruled them with little regard for their concerns and welfare, and refused them the right to have a voice in their own governance. The American Revolution had begun, and in its aftermath the birth of a proud new nation -- the United States of America -- was soon to follow. Over the course of the next two and half centuries, countless American patriots would fight and die to protect this nation's people from its enemies, and all would swear to defend the guiding principles its founders embodied in their Constitution. Most often, the new nation's adversaries were belligerent foreign powers. But on one notable occasion -- the American Civil War -- the enemy was of domestic origin. "Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal. It will bring an everlasting mark of infamy on the present generation, enlightened as it is, if we should suffer them to be wrested from us by violence without a struggle, or to be cheated out of them by the artifices of false and designing men." -- Samuel Adams Today, we Americans are again suffering under the rule of a government that has effectively divorced itself from the will of the People and placed itself beyond our control; a state of affairs that has slowly but steadily evolved since the beginning of the twentieth century. Once again our nation's enemy is of domestic origin. Led by a cadre of lifelong professional career politicians in the United States Congress and their wealthy special interest supporters, our federal government has grown increasingly corrupt, has steadily accumulated too much unregulated power, and has steadfastly denied real representation to the People. These corrupt professional politicians and their wealthy special interest allies have effectively seized control of our government and now pursue their own self-serving ambitions with too little regard for the rights and concerns of the American People. ACT NOW! and our rapidly growing coalition of concerned American citizens have some harsh words for Congress, and they had better start listening: "This cannot stand! We Americans will not tolerate such a perversion of our nation's founding principles by our elected representatives!" "This is our land, our home and our country! This is America; the land of the Free and the home of the Brave. We will fight to retain our rights!" "We are the American people and we are our nation's rightful rulers! We will not be denied representation in our own government by the people we elected to serve!" "We will not allow our elected representatives to pursue their own selfish career goals in government while our concerns are ignored!" "We will not allow our leaders to seize control of the democratic government that our great nation's founders worked so hard and sacrificed so much to bequeath to us!" The seeds for a New American Revolution have been sewn! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- AMERICAN PATRIOTS ARE RISING TO THE CALL "The inside operation of Congress - the deals, the compromises, the selling out, the co-opting, the unprincipled manipulating, the self-serving career-building - is a story of such monumental decadence that I believe if people find out about it they will demand an end to it." -- Bella Abzug After researching the recent history of the United States and wondering how such a once proud and prosperous nation as ours has declined to such a deplorable state, we began to understand that our government has grown completely out of control and out of touch with the American people. Our government is sliding down a slippery slope and spinning more dangerously out of control with every passing day. Immediate intervention by the American People is needed to arrest this perilous descent and restore citizen control. While most Americans tend to blame our Presidents whenever the country is troubled -- since they are our ultimate leaders and therefore responsible for the country's direction under their watch -- and others blame whichever political party is in power at the time; we don't believe that either is the real culprit. Although Presidents and political parties do make highly visible targets for scorn, both are replaced too frequently through regular election cycles to be responsible for such a steady long-term decline in our nation's stature and prosperity. We are convinced that the real problem is more fundamental to the framework of our government. As you explore the information presented on this website and look deeper into the complexities of our nation's situation, you will see just how the current untenable state of affairs has developed in our free democracy; in a nation whose government was designed by its founders to be of, by and for the People. Through our research of the activities of our government over the past century or so we have identified a pattern of disturbing behavior that has continued unabated for decades; a pattern of behavior so alarming it should shake us all to our patriotic cores and arouse Americans everywhere to action. The root cause of our country's malaise is systemic in our United States Congress and the common denominator for this behavior is "unlimited congressional tenure". With no limit on the number of times our congressional leaders can be elected to "serve", Congress has grown to be dominated by career politicians who have clung to their positions for too many years; and all too often, for too many decades. Our Congress doesn't seem to be working for the good of the People any longer, but rather for their own selfish goals and for the benefit of powerful special interest groups; big corporations, labor unions, financial institutions and the like. Our elected representatives have grown corrupt by the wealth and influence of these special interests, and so arrogant with their own power and the security of their positions, they no longer fear any consequences from the people who elect them. Too many members of Congress, particularly the senior leaders, have held elective office for most of their adult lives. They haven't lived a day in the real world for so long they don't have a clue what life in our world is like, and they don't seem to concern themselves too much with the real world and real issues that most Americans have to confront every day. The pity of it is that we continually reelect these same people as our representatives in Congress despite their obvious indifference to us and our needs. It seems the only times they care about us is when they need our votes to remain in office! ACT NOW! was formed to combat the corruption, end the dominance of career politicians in Congress, and restore government accountability to the American People by amending the Constitution of the United States to define reasonable term limits for our congressional representatives. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ A SORRY STATE OF AFFAIRS "In order to become the master, the politician poses as the servant." -- Charles de Gaulle Too many members of our Congress are more concerned with their next reelection bid than with the concerns of the people who elect them. Over the past century or so these congressional careerists have rigged our election process to virtually assure themselves continuous reelection; and they have steadily increased their seniority, influence and power -- and increasingly tightened their grip on the controls of our federal government -- with every fresh term in office. Congress has learned how to distribute billions of taxpayer dollars to their special interest supporters through cleverly concealed pork barrel spending and ear marked funding, knowing that the special interests will in turn donate millions of those dollars to incumbent reelection campaigns; thus creating an endless cycle of corruption where the only losers are the American People. After all, it's our tax money they are spending to perpetuate this pernicious fraud! This is precisely the state of affairs many of our nation's founders feared the most; a branch of our government that is too insulated from the American People and steadily accumulating too much power unregulated by the People's control. Our most democratic branch of government, the United States Congress -- and particularly the House of Representatives, which our nation's founders clearly intended to be the body closest to the People -- has all but eliminated any pretext of representing the concerns of the People and now pursues its self-serving ambitions with reckless abandon. Today, our Congress is ruled by many lifelong political careerists who wield almost dictatorial powers over their more junior colleagues, the entire political process, the fate of all legislation, the functions of our federal government; and over all of us, the very people who elected them to office in the first place. The "citizen legislature" envisioned by our nation's founders and embodied in our Constitution -- that guided the growth, progress and prosperity of our great nation through more than three quarters of our history -- is now just a fading memory. Representative democracy in the United States is in serious jeopardy! If we Americans don't swiftly unite and pull together to reform Congress and restore citizen control, our future is in grave peril! Unregulated taxation, reckless spending, trillion-dollar budget deficits, record national debt, the financial system collapse, the devaluation of our currency, unaffordable energy prices, record unemployment, ill-conceived and hastily passed legislation, and the worst recession since the Great Depression are all symptoms of a Congress too long out of control by the People and too focused on their own self-serving ambitions. The shameful and neglectful policies of lifelong career politicians are to blame, and our United States Congress is loaded to the rafters with them! "If our house be on fire, without inquiring whether it was fired from within or without, we must rush to extinguish it." -- Thomas Jefferson Whether Congress is willing to admit it or not, the United States of America is being slowly and systematically destroyed from within by the very people who swore oaths to protect and defend it from all enemies foreign and domestic. Our nation was founded on the principle that government receives its authority to govern from the People and is to govern according to the wishes of the People. Who can argue that this is the case today? Congress seems intent on doing whatever it pleases, and what pleases the career politicians in Congress is whatever they can do to retain their positions of power. The shame of it is, we are the ones responsible for electing these people to the offices they hold, and we keep reelecting the same ones over and over again as if sooner or later they'll wake up one day, start caring about us and actually start doing the jobs we elected them for. Today our Congress is so drunk on its own power, so arrogant, so corrupt with their privilege and prestige, and so unconcerned with the plight of everyday Americans it's a wonder that the People haven't already revolted and demanded their heads! Like Paul Revere during the first American Revolution, we must hurry to spread the alarm throughout the country and seize the attention of all Americans everywhere! We need to engage our leaders, enrage the media, and alert our people to the very real dangers we face from our own government! In short, we need all Americans to stand up and join us and add their voices to ours; to support our cause through their generous donations, and to volunteer their time and energies to help us win... -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------"THE NEW AMERICAN REVOLUTION" Our overriding goal can be no less than to change the course of America's future and to make absolutely certain that our government is -- and will forever remain -- of the People, by the People and for the People!
