Military “Litmus Test”? Will you Shoot Americans?

According to the following video, Dr. Jim Garrow was recently contacted by a high ranking military official who implored him to reveal the truth about a “litmus test” that is being proposed by the Obama administration to the military, asking the question “will you shoot Americans if they won’t give you their guns?”

I have mixed feelings about this video. On the one hand, it’s well done; Dr. Garrow seems sincere and reasonable. On the other hand, the video strikes me as a possible instance of fear-mongering.

I’m not posting this video as an absolute truth. I’m posting as a possible truth, even a probable truth. I’m posting mainly to see what the readers of the blog think about this video.

It wouldn’t be the first time.

As seen in the next video, they did it in Washington D.C. in A.D. 1932 during the Great Depression. In that instance, the U.S. Army fired on former U.S. Army veterans. Ironically, the soldiers were led by Douglas MacArthur and Dwight D. Eisenhower–two of America’s most celebrated military officers.

The shootings occurred under the President Herbert Hoover administration just three months before the A.D. 1932 election. Hoover was subsequently voted out of office and Franklin Delano Roosevelt elected. History books indicate that Hoover lost the election because he was blamed for the Great Depression. It may be that the real reason Hoover lost to Roosevelt was that Hoover was blamed for shooting the veterans. If the attack on the veterans wasn’t the primary reason Hoover lost to Roosevelt, it was certainly part of the reason.

It would certainly be ironic if FDR’s election and the resulting political revolution (“New Deal”) that haunts us to this day were largely the result of the U.S. Army shooting U.S. Army veterans. It would also be ironic if Herbert Hoover was run out of office for shooting the veterans, but the two military officers responsible for those shootings were later considered for the presidency (MacArthur) and even elected to presidency (Eisenhower).

It’s not only politics that makes for strange bedfellows–it’s also history.

One of the lessons of the following video is that when a nation becomes impoverished (as in the midst of a depression) its people become both desperate and prone to violence.

We appear to be approaching a “Greater Depression”.
