Saudi Arabia “Prepared” And “Willing” To Send Troops To Syria

ISIS and other related al-Qaeda fighters are facing a rout in Syria. In addition, the famed “moderate rebels” – themselves non-existent – are no help for the West. Despite the best efforts of feudal monarchies in the Gulf, Israel, the United States, and NATO, Syria has resisted the destruction foreign powers have wished to visit upon it. In fact, not only has Syria resisted a foreign invasion, it is now set to visit destruction on the very forces invading it.

With the United States put somewhat in check by the Russians, however, there remains very little else available to NATO other than to risk a direct military conflict with Russia or to find new proxy forces to do the dirty work of the empire.

The West, apparently, has found a way to combine both strategies – i.e. the possibility of igniting a third world war and the raising of a proxy army to do much of the fighting.

Enter Saudi Arabia.

On Thursday, Saudi Arabia announced that the kingdom would be willing to send its troops to Syria in an effort to “fight ISIS.” Of course, Saudi Arabia has been one of the staunchest allies of ISIS andother terror groups fighting against the Syrian government since the beginning of the crisis so it is not reasonable to belief that any military action taken by the KSA will be directed at anything other than the Syrian government.

Clearly, Saudi Arabia is prepared to invade Syria at the behest of NATO since its recent military foray into Yemen has demonstrated that the only targets KSA is capable of taking out are institutes for the blind and schools of young children. Other than that, the KSA has been given a thorough whipping in Yemen by rebels who are vastly outgunned and outnumbered. KSA is only doing damage on the war front because it is targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure and thus rendering the entire country back to the Stone Age, a time in history for which the Saudis have a particular fondness.

The U.S., of course, is welcoming the Saudi blunder. Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter has even publicly stated that the Saudi announcement is “very welcome” and will allow the U.S. to “accelerate its fight against ISIS.”

Not all officials are impressed by the Saudi threats, however, with Iranian commander of the Revolutionary Guards Maj. Gen. Ali Jafarimocking the KSA.

Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Muallem, however, stopped well short of a joke when addressing the Saudi threats. “Any ground intervention in Syria, without the consent of the Syrian government, will be considered an aggression that should be resisted by every Syrian citizen. I regret to say that they will return home in wooden coffins,” he said.

Muallem also stated that the idea of Saudi troops invading Syria might seem far-fetched, but that “with the crazy Saudi leadership nothing is far-fetched.”

Indeed, the Saudi leadership has demonstrated its insanity time after time. For the sake of all, however, we hope the KSA returns to its senses.
