Power in the wrong hands


In the last couple of weeks we have been witnessing what happens when power is placed in the hands of tyrannical-minded ideologues.


It is a surreal picture of the National Park Service as their employees are transformed from servants of the people into a Gestapo-like force, closing down open-air historical sites and memorials by raising up barricades to make sure no one can get in.
But wait! If they have been furloughed because parts of government have been shut down, how can they be at work, barricading sites that are always open on weekends and holidays (regularly scheduled shutdowns) and giving orders to business owners that they cannot be open because the parking lot is federal property?
Rather than a shutdown of parks and memorial sites, it is as if the President is saying, “Put my employees of furlough and we’ll hire more help to make sure no one can visit these sites. If they can’t be there, neither can the American people.”


Part of the explanation for this is we are seeing what happens when extreme ideologues are in charge of the federal government. Decisions are made not on what is best for the people of this nation. Government agencies exist not to serve the people. Everything is done with the purpose of imposing an ideological agenda on the nation.
Now the rhetoric is being ratcheted up as the Administration tries to orchestrate an economic crisis, even an economic collapse, if they could, to give them a reason to crack down on political opponents - as if opposing political views could somehow be viewed as treasonous activity.
Their advocates in the media support them with a religious fervor as they talk about their political opponents like they are some kind of subhuman creatures deserving jail or worse.
Their strategies for such a major power grab have so far not come to fruition because their attempts to get everyone to operate in their imagined reality fail. Leftist ideologues seem to forget that everyone doesn’t get caught up in their manufactured reality. It’s only their base of supporters that live in their world of false rhetoric.

The real world keeps barging in on this fantasy world and disrupts their efforts to abandon legitimate government and set things up in their hoped-for authoritarian utopia.

Of course if their ideal world ever succeeded they would have left behind a shattered economy, with everyone equally poor except for the bureaucratic ruling class that is far worse than the imagined rich ruling class they are supposedly overthrowing.
Meanwhile, Democrat and Republican presidents alike have shown themselves to be willing to keep this nation on a headlong course toward larger, more centralized government, with leadership in Congress, Republican and Democrat, going along with it.

And while it looked like the Republican-led House of Representatives was finally taking a stand to stop the dangerous course of this growth of government, they are once again about to cave in to the President’s demands and give up the fight, even as his administration faces growing opposition from the American people. This opposition can only continue, as more and more people face the growing strong-armed tactics of the federal government against them.
While the propaganda blitz against the Republicans and the Tea Party seems to have won this round, the growing damage to the President’s credibility has yet to be assessed by most of the media.

And the 2014 election is sure to be a referendum on the disastrous consequences of the continued implementation of ObamaCare.
