Obama Administration Pretends to be Shocked About Police Militarization
Take Back Obama’s Nobel Peace Prize, Say World LeadersFor years, the U.S government has been supplying local law enforcement agencies with military grade weapons, tanks and armored vehicles. Alternative media sources have been covering this topic extensively, with routine articles and features showing how various police departments across the country are becoming militarized.
These reports have been largely ignored by the general public, until this week, when images of all out martial law in Ferguson, Missouri circulated around the world, through social media and independent news websites. While many mainstream sources are attempting to justify this massive show of force, the general public is finally starting to become concerned about the growing police state.
Politicians in the US have reacted by pretending to be shocked and appalled by the militarization of police seen in Ferguson.
Even Obama, who oversaw and signed off on this growing police state for years, has began to backtrack on the issue.
“There is a big difference between our military and our local law enforcement. And we don’t want those lines blurred, that would be contrary to our traditions. “I’ll be watching over the next several days to assess whether, in fact, it’s helping rather than hindering progress in Ferguson,” he added.
Obama went on to say that attorney general Eric Holder would be sent to Ferguson to investigate the Michael Brown killing, as well as the militarization of police. However, it is laughable to think that anyone in the government was unaware that police stations across the country were receiving millions of dollars worth of military weapons and equipment.
It is unlikely that this will actually bring about any change in government policy, but the fact that there has been such a resistance shows that something is changing in the hearts and minds of the average people.
