Could We Turn Nuclear Waste Into A Powerful Source Of Clean Energy? This Woman Has A Genius Idea!

Could We Turn Nuclear Waste Into A Powerful Source Of Clean Energy? This Woman Has A Genius Idea!

Could this solve the problem of fossil fuel depletion and nuclear waste management?

As we reported recently, the problem of radioactive waste from the Fukushima nuclear disaster is terrifyingly out of control. We currently have no solution for managing nuclear waste, but the above video offers a very interesting idea. Could we extract pure energy from nuclear waste, transforming it into a powerful source of electricity while reducing its radioactivity at the same time?

According to Leslie Dewan, solving the twin problems of clean energy and nuclear waste management is within our reach. Fossil fuels are unsustainable, but we do have an enormous amount of nuclear waste sitting around. Dewan really puts things into context when she says that if we extracted the energy from all the world’s current nuclear waste, we could generate enough electricity to power the entire world for 72 years.

Nuclear power is extremely controversial, and with good reason. One of the main criticisms is that we have no way of managing radioactive waste. If this idea could be put into practice, would it change your mind in any way? Let us know your opinions in the comments!
