MEN OF PEACE

MEN OF PEACE
"I don't know how to save the world. I don't have the answers or The Answer. I hold no secret knowledge as to how to fix the mistakes of generations past and present. I only know that without compassion and respect for all Earth's inhabitants, none of us will survive - nor will we deserve to." Leonard Peltier

As I watch the world

As I watch the world it seems that every day we, as a people, are less and less concerned with others. Not to say that everyone is greedy and selfish, but in general, people only look out for themselves and those right next to them. Have you ever seen someone that needed help, but you just said that you were too busy so you couldn't help them? Maybe and old woman at the market was having trouble loading all of her groceries in the car and you didn't take a few minutes to help her with her bags. Maybe you saw a man who got caught in the rain and you didn't stop to give him your spare umbrella. Maybe a dog with a collar wondered into your yard and you didn't check the tag to see if there was a number you could call. Did you think about helping, but then decide that you too busy or that it wasn't your business to get involved? I'm having trouble understanding why people are always so reluctant to help others even in the tiniest of ways. I'm not saying you should let a homeless guy move into your house, but it probably wouldn't hurt to give him a sandwich, would it? I understand that some people really are busy and tired sometimes, and that they really don't have the time or the energy to help, but in most cases, you just don't care enough about other people.
