What these conservatives fail to realize is that they are throwing the baby out with the bathwater, or in place of the bathwater. While listening to Rush Limbaugh on Monday, he related a conversation he had with a golfing friend prior to teeing off on Sunday. His friend is a conservative Catholic who is exasperated about our fiscal mess and he is willing to ignore or cede on social issues in order to focus upon the Federal (U. S. taxpayers’) debt, our deficit, and our economy. His frustration is understandable, but this line of thinking is exactly what Satan is seeking. Satan doesn’t have to turn a person completely in order to impose his devilish agenda upon us as a people. Before what I can only describe as a divinely inspired paradigm shift, I rolled my eyes and lampooned televangelists for connecting our political and fiscal challenges to our social failings. As a result of this paradigm shift, I have come to realize that our many and grave fiscal and non-social challenges are rooted in our deliberate desertion of our calling, as children of God, to stand for God and all of His goodness, and against Satan, whenever and wherever he is employing his narcissistic agenda to steal our souls. Fiscal responsibility is rooted in personal responsibility, as are all social concepts. Social concepts are the foundation upon which morally and ethically based fiscal concepts are built. To divorce personal responsibility along fiscal fault lines can be tempting, but it is shortsighted and weakens the entire structure of our society. Our free-enterprise system is based upon individuals acting in a moral and ethical manner. When we cease to act morally and ethically in one segment of daily life, we fail to act morally and ethically in other segments of our lives. As horrific as our fiscal challenges have become, only by addressing our social issues from a Heavenly perspective can we expect to solve our fiscal challenges satisfactorily. This is a trick question, because the most prominent participant was not a mere mortal. He is the source of our republic being manifestly blessed beyond all other nations on Earth. This does not mean we are a perfect nation, for none exists, but the rights and freedoms enjoyed within our republic are the envy of people the world over. Sadly, wayward souls have used our rights and freedoms surreptitiously, in an effort to destroy us; Satan is mischievously clever in how he attacks each of us in his efforts to tempt us, just as he boldly tempted Jesus in the desert. To abandon our social issues only invites more of what ‘fiscal conservatives’ fear and detest the most… fiscal chaos, larger deficits and a more crippling debt. As an example, in abandoning our social issues, the door is opened to the further implementation of the lies of inequitable social and economic equity, unjust social justice, and unsustainable sustainable development that are at the core of U. N. Agenda 21. W. Bush illegally sentenced us to this immoral and unconstitutional agenda in 1992. Not only is this agenda an assault upon our personal and national sovereignty, private ownership of property and overall quality of life, it has ushered in a huge financial burden to all but the wealthy elite, and it disproportionately impairs the poor and less gifted of our society. If a person seriously reviews our current challenges, he/she will realize that too many within our society, especially those within elected government, have consciously and deliberately violated, not just our Constitution and Bill of Rights, but the foundation of these documents, God’s Ten Commandments. If we are to hold elected politicians responsible for their transgressions against us, don’t we need to hold ourselves accountable to living according to our Creator’s commandments?Regional Opportunities for Sustainable Development: Theory, Methods, a (Google Affiliate Ad) The mischief of hood rats in government and atop society are vulnerable when people of faith and conviction come together to stand against those who are intent upon destroying God’s grand design. If I were able to reach out to Rush’s golfing friend and all frustrated conservatives, fiscal, social, or both, I would encourage them to halt their retreat from the social issues and become more engaged with these issues, using them as stepping-stones towards overcoming our fiscal malaise. Let’s keep the baby, literally and figuratively, and throw out the murky bathwater of those who have sided with Satan against God and their fellow man. In boldly addressing our social issues, we profess our belief in our Lord, and we reaffirm our commitment of living our lives according to each of His Commandments. In so doing, may our Lord and Savior continue to bless our grand republic, and each of us, even when we stray from Him!
