It’s 20 years on, and malcontent Barack Obama is still spreading the same bull he liberally spread over the pages of his memoir, ‘Dreams from my Father’.

A life of lavish luxury paid for from the public purse has not, Obama claims in a Dec. 10 PEOPLES  magazine article,  protected him from the kind of everyday racism suffered by everyday rubes among the permanently pegged-as-racists masses.

“I‘ve been mistaken for a valet,” Obama straight-faced states.

Whether penned by a man called Barry Soetoro or ghost-written by unrepentant domestic terrorist Bill Ayers, ‘Dreams from my Father’  was published in 1995 as Soetoro-cum-Obama stepped out of the shadows prepared to launch his political career in a campaign for the Illinois Senate.

It could be impolite to say the memoir was ‘foisted’ upon society rather than launched.

In any case, Obama’s U.S. Senate Democratic victory in Illinois in 2004 led to the book’s re-publication the same year.

In the book, we find brave little Barry playing with the zoo his stepfather Lolo Soetoro kept in the backyard of his home in Jakarta, chickens, cockatoos, snakes, turtles, two biawaks (reptiles that resemble miniature crocodiles) in a pond, and a small ape named Tata that he brought back from a mapping assignment with the army in Papua.http://www.businessinsider.com/juicy-details-young-barack-obama-david-maraniss-2012-6?op=1

We also find his maternal grandmother, the late Madelyn Dunham thrown under the bus in the Obama words:”... .. “The point I was making was not that my grandmother harbors any racial animosity. She doesn’t. But she is a typical white person who, uh, if she sees somebody on the street that she doesn’t know there’s a reaction that’s been been bred into our experiences that don’t go away and that sometimes come out in the wrong way and that’s just the nature of race in our society. We have to break through it…”

In the magazine article, we find Obama, in his own words,  mistaken for a valet and in the words of his wife,  a coffee gofer.

“The Obamas open up about raising their daughters, the impact of stereotypes, and what’s on the POTUS dance party playlist”, writes PEOPLE in its subscription teaser.

“The protective bubble that comes with the presidency – the armored limo, the Secret Service detail, the White House – shields Barack and Michelle Obama from a lot of unpleasantness. But their encounters with racial prejudice aren’t as far in the past as one might expect. And they obviously still sting.

“I think people forget that we’ve lived in the White House for six years,” the first lady told PEOPLE, laughing wryly, along with her husband, at the assumption that the first family has been largely insulated from coming face-to-face with racism.  

“Before that, Barack Obama was a black man that lived on the South Side of Chicago, who had his share of troubles catching cabs,” Mrs. Obama said in the Dec. 10 interview appearing in the new issue of PEOPLE.

“I tell this story – I mean, even as the first lady – during that wonderfully publicized trip I took to Target, not highly disguised, the only person who came up to me in the store was a woman who asked me to help her take something off a shelf. Because she didn’t see me as the first lady, she saw me as someone who could help her. Those kinds of things happen in life. So it isn’t anything new.”

“In a 30-minute conversation, the president and Mrs. Obama candidly added their stories to the national discussion of race and racial profiling that was sparked by the deaths of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, and Eric Garner in Staten Island, New York.

“There’s no black male my age, who’s a professional, who hasn’t come out of a restaurant and is waiting for their car and somebody didn’t hand them their car keys,” said the president, adding that, yes, it had happened to him.

Mrs. Obama recalled another incident: “He was wearing a tuxedo at a black-tie dinner, and somebody asked him to get coffee.”

It’s unlikely that the usually swaggering with superior attitude Barack Obama would ever be mistaken for a valet.  Valets are honest, hard-working and can’t afford to bring attitude to the job.
