Telling the Truth is an Act of Treason?
Telling the Truth is an Act of Treason?
June 12, 2013 Truth no longer matters. All that matters today is power, control and money. Recent revelations of the mass surveillance of Americans by the National Security Agency (NSA) exposed covert, warrantless (illegal) actions of sophisticated big-brother systems. Some say whistleblower
Edward Snowden is a traitor, others a hero of the people.
the all-seeing eye For the State, truth is an annoying relic yet people are starved for it. Can you imagine if the evening news, upon reporting such shocking events as the NSA leaks, then reminded Americans how the Declaration of Independence was a mandate for limited government and freedom for the individual? (See blog: An Evolving Role of Government, June 2, 2013.) Can you imagine the news anchor chiding government officials for their overreach into the lives of the people who put them there? That will be the day.
Text book writers on the subject of American history are known to have been paid by educational foundations to under-report and overlook certain historical events, including those surrounding the constitutional convention in Philadelphia in 1787. Thankfully, prior to 1910, most historians were not under these dictates of political correctness required by corporate employers. They could write more freely regarding the events that led up to the reality of the U.S. Government entity no longer abiding by the philosophical underpinnings of the Declaration of Independence. With rare exception, the history of humans on planet earth is merely new versions of the same story: the power-grabbing wars, domination over the “less powerful” and the subversion of ethics to suit the elite throughout the world.
In his interview with the Guardian, Edward Snowden, a now “ex” mid-level employee of the CIA, warned candidly of the mass surveillance he was privy to:
“Even if you’re not doing anything wrong, you’re being watched and recorded. …it’s getting to the point where you don’t have to have done anything wrong, you simply have to eventually fall under suspicion from somebody, even by a wrong call, and then they can use this system to go back in time and scrutinize every decision you’ve ever made, every friend you’ve ever discussed something with, and attack you on that basis, to sort of derive suspicion from an innocent life.”
“The great fear that I have regarding the outcome for America of these disclosures is that nothing will change. [People] won’t be willing to take the risks necessary to stand up and fight to change things… And in the months ahead, the years ahead, it’s only going to get worse. [The NSA will] say that… because of the crisis, the dangers that we face in the world, some new and unpredicted threat, we need more authority, we need more power, and there will be nothing the people can do at that point to oppose it. And it will be a
turnkey tyranny.”
“I will be satisfied if the federation of secret law, unequal pardon and irresistible executive powers that rule the world that I love are revealed even for an instant.”
Should these be the words of a traitor; I ask, can anyone deny that the Constitution, due process and the rule of law are upheld only when it serves the powers that be?
The Greek philosopher, Plato, 427 BC-347 BC, over 2000 years ago once said, “Democracy passes into despotism.” Take a look at how the World English Dictionary defines the word, despotism:
1. the rule of a despot; arbitrary, absolute, or tyrannical government
2. arbitrary or tyrannical authority or behaviour
The government can get away with things no individual could.Thomas Jefferson described tyrannical government saying, “Tyranny is defined as that which is legal for the government but illegal for the citizenry.”
Bingo!
Fast-forward to 1975, Senator Frank Church unwittingly made a chilling prediction when speaking to the NSA:
“I know the capacity that is there to make tyranny total in America, and we must see to it that this agency and all agencies that possess this technology operate within the law and under proper supervision, so that we never cross over that abyss. That is the abyss from which there is no return.”
Then, 38 years later, March, 2013, James R. Clapper, the Director of National Intelligence testified under oath before the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence that mass surveillance was not happening. Senator Ron Wyden asked him, “Does NSA collect any type of data at all on millions or hundreds of millions of Americans? “No sir,” was Clapper’s answer. He must have had his fingers crossed behind his back because, well, he lied.
Bold-faced lies under oath reveal a bigger truth: the possibility that we are witness to the United States passing into despotism, with no return, trapped in that abyss. I guess in an upside-down America, truth cannot be tolerated and must be dismissed as endangering national security. Thereby, telling the truth necessarily becomes an act of treason if anyone is to be counted a true American.
Is this how the story ends? I don’t think so. A platform for practical solutions already exists for those who step up to proactively claim it. I hope you will read the book available at this website, Beyond the National Myth: waking up in the land of the free.
Think outside the box. Live outside the cage.
