Fort Lauderdale airport mass murderer may be a jihadist
Esteban Santiago appears to have been active on a pro-terrorist website
Islamic jihad may have been the motivation of a man accused of shooting at least five people to death and injuring many more at the Fort Lauderdale, Fla., airport this afternoon.
Reports indicate Esteban Santiago previously presented himself to the FBI, claiming voices were urging him to fight on behalf of Islamic State but the feds let him go.
In addition, GotNews reports, “A search of leaked databases using those e-mails returns this image of Esteban Santiago wearing a Middle Eastern keffiyeh around his neck and doing a raised one-fingered common to members of the Islamic State and other Islamic terrorist groups[.]”

Santiago is reportedly 26 years old, of Puerto Rican ancestry, a U.S. citizen born in New Jersey, and a former U.S. Army Reservist.
Update 9:11 p.m. Eastern time: The Daily Beast is reporting that during Santiago’s shooting spree:
After he ran out of bullets, witnesses reportedly said Santiago threw his gun to the ground and laid face down while he waited for officers. Santiago was taken into custody without incident.
According to charging documents provided by the Anchorage prosecutor’s office to The Daily Beast, on January 10, 2016, Santiago verbally assaulted his then girlfriend, a 40-year old mother of one child from a previous marriage whom The Daily Beast is not naming, through a locked bathroom door, telling her to “Get the # out, #.” After he forced his way in by breaking down the door, he smacked her in the head and strangled her. By the time police arrived, Santiago had fled the scene. […]
