Stand Up for the Revolution!

In President Trump “we the people” are fortunate (perhaps blessed is the better word) to have a working model of positive thinking and derring-do to emulate.  Time to stand up.

President Trumps “Inaugural Address” was America’s second “shot heard round the world,” and like that musket ball fired at Concord in 1775, the effects of President Trump’s speech will have immediate, revolutionary, and long lasting repercussions.

January 20th, 2017 will be remembered as the day the people became the rulers of this nation again.  The forgotten men and women of our country will be forgotten no longer.  Everyone is listening to you now.  You came by the tens of millions to become part of a historic movement, the likes of which the world has never seen before.—President Donald J. Kick out the jams baby—“Shock ‘n’ Awe” Trump-style has arrived!  Can anyone doubt it?  Well…the delusional, the warped, and the arrogantly smug can deny it—but “we the people” know better.  The revolution is here, and it is time to stand up and be counted.

And how can we do that, how do we stand with President Trump?  We can start by supporting those who stand with us, and boycotting those who oppose us.  For instance, we should show our support for those musicians, such as Toby Keith, Lee Greenwood, “3 Doors Down,” Sam Moore, Tony Orlando and others, who stood up to threats from globalist elites and performed at Trump’s Inaugural events.  And we can show our disfavor for those who cravenly refused to stand with President Trump—and “we the people.”

If they are not with us, they are against us—and we would be fools to financially contribute to their reactionary elitism by purchasing their products.  The same goes for Hollywood.  Why should we continue to go to movies starring celebrities whose elitist disdain for “we the people” is all but palpable?  Screw ‘em, and the horse they rode in on.  I’ll be d—ned if they are getting any more of my money.

In my opinion, the most important way for us to stand up for America; stand with President Trump…is intangible.  It cannot be weighed, touched, or measured.  I am talking about attitude—an attitude expressed throughout President Trump’s “Inaugural Speech,” and in the clarion call of his closing words:

Together, we will make America strong again.  We will make America wealthy again.  We will make America proud again.  We will make America safe again.  And, yes, together, we will make America great again. Thank you, God bless you, and God bless America.—President Donald J. Trump 1/20/17
Would you describe Trump as some dewy-eyed Polyanna, some clueless naif, innocent to the ways of the world?  No, me neither.  So, when I say that President Trump’s vision for America is one of boundless optimism and hope, I am not conflating that with some sort of na√Øve wishful thinking and unrealistic expectations.  His is an optimism and vision tempered by hard-won knowledge of the world’s harsher realities.

If “we the people” are to truly stand with President Trump, then we must share his positive attitude of hope, renewal, and revolution—but that is easier said than done.  For many of us, acquiring a positive Trumpian attitude will require effort and persistence, commitment and cultivation.

In his short book “MAGA Mindset,” Mike Cernovich not only gives an excellent description of Trump’s positive attitude (mindset), but his book also serves as a fine introductory primer for acquiring a positive attitude of your own.  Cernovich’s book contains a key quote by Ralph Marston:

Your destiny is to fulfill those things upon which you focus most intently.  So choose to keep your focus on that which is truly magnificent, beautiful, uplifting and joyful.  Your life is always moving toward something.  [italics added]

Indeed, our lives are always moving toward something—and it is up to us to decide what that something is.  As my favorite Christian apologist, Dr. Emmet Fox, was fond of saying, “What you think upon grows.”  Or as Paul, in a similar vein, puts it in the Bible:

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.—Philippians 4:8
In any event, some folks seem to be born with a positive mindset—call it the result of karma, kismet, genes, or whatever.  The vast majority of us, however, find that a positive attitude is something that we need to nurture and cultivate.

President Trump got a leg up on things by being raised by loving, supportive, positive parents—and by being introduced to the teachings of Norman Vincent Peale (“Power Through Positive Thinking”) at a young age.  His parents would bring young Donald along with them when they attended Dr. Peale’s services at “Marble Collegiate Church” in NYC.

(It is perhaps worth mentioning that Dr. Fox’s book “Power Through Constructive Thinking” was first published in 1932—some twenty years before Dr. Peale’s “Power Through Positive Thinking.”  Emmet Fox died in 1951, the year before “Power Through Positive Thinking” was published.  I like to think that there was a sort of passing of the baton).

It is all well and good to speak of cultivating a positive attitude, but what of the “slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,” and other curve balls that life throws at us from time to time?  What about the idiots, fools, and sociopaths on display during anti-Trump rioting?  What about “radical Islamic terrorism,” and other foes that must be confronted and fought?

Those are all good questions, important questions.  But unfortunately, their answers fall well outside the purview of this article.  For the moment, I merely wish to point out that if you wish to board the “Trump train” and be a helpful, integral part of the revolutionary process, then a positive attitude would be most helpful—for yourself individually, and for America as a whole.

In closing, let me point to President Trump’s Inaugural closing statement—“God bless you, and God bless America.”




Any attempt to nurture a healthy self-esteem, that leaves God out of the equation, must invariably lead to a bloated unhealthy ego and vainglorious pomposity.  (And a healthy self-esteem is an essential element of a positive mindset.  Without a healthy sense of self-worth, we find ourselves self-sabotaging ourselves, and shooting ourselves in the foot at every turn).

When I say a healthy sense of self-worth, self-respect, self-love, I mean one that is constrained by a humble acknowledgement of God—an “attitude of gratitude” if you will.

So…healthy self-esteem, a positive mindset, and humility before God.  I would say that those are the main ingredients of a vibrant “Make America Great Again” mindset.

Nations have personalities, similar to individuals, and as we improve ourselves individually, so too will America improve as a whole.  In President Trump “we the people” are fortunate (perhaps blessed is the better word) to have a working model of positive thinking and derring-do to emulate.  Time to stand up.
