Whatever their reasons, they seem to have abandoned their hippy-dippy heyday in favor of becoming the hawks of WWIII.

How many times have you heard it?  Some lefty gets up in front of a crowd and tearfully whinges about Trump having the nuclear codes.  “He’s a child,” they say.  “He’ll throw a nuclear tantrum,” they claim. “He’ll start WWIII,” they cry.

This week, the ridiculous “Doomsday Clock” advanced.  As the Washington Post reported:

In announcing that the Doomsday Clock was moving 30 seconds closer to the end of humanity, the group noted that in 2016, “the global security landscape darkened as the international community failed to come effectively to grips with humanity’s most pressing existential threats, nuclear weapons and climate change.”

But the organization also cited the election of President Trump in changing the symbolic clock.

“Making matters worse, the United States now has a president who has promised to impede progress on both of those fronts,” theoretical physicist Lawrence M. Krauss and retired Navy Rear Adm. David Titley wrote in a New York Times op-ed on behalf of the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists. “Never before has the Bulletin decided to advance the clock largely because of the statements of a single person. But when that person is the new president of the United States, his words matter.”
Geriatric hippies (the only people who actually think this clock has any actual meaning) cried out in unison.  “Trump is going to destroy us all!” Apparently, we should all be buying extra food and storing bottled water because Donald Trump is going to incinerate all of humanity in a global storm of nuclear hellfire.  Yes, these sad saps believe that the U.S. and Russia - the only two nations with the firepower to do so - are about to end the world.


If you know any hardcore liberals, you probably know a few people who think the way they do.  But…

Remember, these are the very same leftists who berate Trump for having a global network of hotels.  Every one of his decisions will allegedly be made in support of his personal finances. He will, they claim, do anything and everything to ensure that his international gravy train remains intact.

These are also the very same people claiming that Trump is Putin’s best buddy. If they’re to be believed, Putin put Trump in power so he’d have a puppet in charge our nation. We are, they claim, now subjects of a re-born Soviet Empire.  A KGB thug is in command of each and every United State - with the exception of the fine, upstanding, liberal bastions of California and New York.

Ask them why Trump - a supposed Putin puppet - would start a nuclear war when it would decimate his international finances and destroy his puppet master’s country in the process, and you’ll get one of two things: a blank stare or deflection. Then, they’ll launch into a tirade about Vladimir Putin.

Their argument is as follows: Putin is a monster - the unmanageable, unpredictable, pit bull of global politics.  He’s the embodied resurrection of the old Soviet Union, and must be controlled through any means necessary.

They’re partly right.  Putin is a thug and he should never be trusted.  As Prime Minister Theresa May recently said, you should never trust Putin because he will never have western interests at heart.  Her warning that we should “engage but beware” echoes Reagan and is absolutely correct.

The left, of course, wants none of this. To them, “engagement” equals capitulation. In a bizarro turnaround, the party of peace and love in the 60’s has become the party of hawkish anti-Russian rhetoric in the present. they’re positively salivating over the prospect of conflict with Russia.  They’ve gone from “we shouldn’t police the world” to “we’re the only ones who can police the world” in the space of 25 years.

Today, Democrats demand no fly zones, cruise missile strikes, and anti-Russian redlines with all the regularity of a Metamucil addict.
